1. What is Beatopia?

Beatopia is a disruptive new platform that leases curated Beats that you won’t find anywhere else. Beatopia’s beats have unlimited rights and are available with a monthly or annual subscription.

2. Who uses Beatopia?

Beatopia is for vocalists looking to create finished songs. Rappers and singers can find high quality instrumentals for building their own unique tracks. The songs can then be uploaded to online platforms like Soundcloud, Youtube, Instagram, TikTok, Spotify, Apple Music, and all other streaming services.

3. Who started Beatopia?

Beatopia is backed by Soundsnap, a worldwide leader in sound effects for TV and film with over 2 million registered users. The team consists of 14 music and technology nerds with diverse backgrounds – sound engineering, music production, video games development, and machine learning. The beats are provided by award winning producers.

4. Where is Beatopia based?

The company that owns Beatopia is headquartered in Nicosia, Cyprus.

5. Can I sell my beats on Beatopia?

Our library consists of beats provided by world class producers. We are always looking for the most talented beatmakers across ALL genres. If you are interested in joining our roster, make sure that your music sounds as good or better than what we already have! We are very picky. If you still feel like you belong with us, please email music@beatopia.com with a link to your Soundcloud, Youtube, Spotify, or any other online streaming method.

7. Is there a phone number I can call?

We do not have a phone number to be reached at, but we have online staff that are eager to help with anything you might need! We usually respond within 24 hours (or 48 hours on weekends). We can be reached via this Zendesk form.

8. How much do the beats cost?

Check out our download pricing here. All beats are free to browse and preview.

9. I’m trying to buy something but I’m getting a message saying there was a problem loading the payment process.

This may be caused by a plugin on your browser. If you are using a browser plugin (DuckDuckGo, Privacy Badger, etc), try disabling it, or use Private/ Incognito Mode before reloading the page.

10. Who is the VAT field for? Do I need to enter a VAT number?

The VAT field only applies to EU companies that are VAT registered and have an EU VAT number. Once a valid number has been entered, the applied tax may be removed according to regulations about intra-community transactions. The VAT field should be left blank for anyone outside the European Union (companies and consumers) and also should be left blank for EU consumers and individuals (that are not VAT registered companies).

11. Do you accept American Express?

Yes, we accept American Express in our regular payment gateway.

12. What are the available subscription options?

We offer a monthly subscription which allows for 5 beats per month. 

13. How often will you bill my card? Do you have recurring billing?

Subscribers are charged every 30 days.

14. How do I change my billing information after I have already subscribed?

If you paid by card, go to the Billing tab in your account where you can Edit your card information.

15. If I paid with PayPal, how do I change my billing info to a card?

If you paid with PayPal and want to switch to a card (or vice versa), go to the Billing tab and switch Auto-renew to the Off position. When your subscription reaches its end, you will then be able to input new billing information under your user name.

16. How do I cancel or reactivate a recurring subscription?

When logged into your account, go to your Account section at the top right corner of any page, then choose ‘Billing’ from the dropdown. From the Billing page, you can view the details of your recurring subscription and cancel or reactivate it at any time by clicking the Automatic Renewal button.

17. I just bought an account and I need an invoice/receipt.

To get your receipt, sign in and go to your Account section at the top right corner of any page. Click on the 'Billing & Invoices' tab. Then click on "Invoices'' where you can view and download a pdf of your receipt. Custom invoices can be requested by emailing hello@beatopia.com.

18. I see that I need to link to Beatopia when I release a song on Youtube, Soundcloud etc. What are the rules for linking?

All we require is a note at the top of your post’s description that states “Beat from https://www.beatopia.com”. Doing this will help us identify legitimate users of our beats. This is for sites such as YouTube, Soundcloud and any other platform that allows you to add a link. For Instagram, you must tag Beatopia in any post.

19. What is the penalty for not linking back?

Beatopia will track usage and we reserve the right to take down songs that don’t link back to us.

20. Where can I find the producer PRO & Publishing Designee information, if any?

The producer’s PRO/Publishing Designee will be provided on the license given to you.

21. What is a PRO?

A PRO (Performing Rights Organization) is a publishing organization responsible for collecting performance royalties on behalf of songwriters and music publishers.

22.What is an IPI number and how can I find mine?

An IPI (Interested Party Information) number is an international identification number used to identify songwriters and publishers as rights holders.This number is usually anywhere between 9-11 digits long and is assigned to you by your PRO (Performing Right Organization).

Please note that an IPI number is a separate code from the member ID number or the account number assigned by a PRO.

You can find your IPI number by either logging into your online PRO account, contacting your PRO by phone and/or email, or by performing a search in the public repertoire on the website of your PRO. When searching your name in the public repertoire your unique IPI number will appear next to it.

23. How does Beatopia track content ID?

Beatopia will not take any content ID profit from legitimate users of Beatopia. We are enrolled in a ‘route for review’ program where we can monitor the usage of our beats.

24. Does Beatopia take any publishing?

No, Beatopia does not take any publishing, performance, or writer’s share. Publishing is strictly split between the producer and the artists.

25. What is the publishing split between the artist and producer?

The split between the artist and producer is 50/50 unless otherwise stated in the license.

26. Who owns the right to the master release?

The master release is owned by both the artist and producer.

27. What are copyright claims and how can I stay claim-free on Youtube?

These claims are automatically generated when an uploaded video matches another video (or part of another video) in the content ID system. To avoid claims, please make sure you are uploading original content to Youtube.

28. Is the artist(s) responsible for registering the songs on the PRO?

Yes, the artist is responsible for registering the master tracks’ ‘final product’ to the appropriate PRO.

29. How Can I Find the BPM and Key of a beat on the site?

When browsing beats, each beat has a small arrow all the way to the right which allows you to see more info. Click on it and you will see the track’s BPM in the collapsed area.

30. Are all the beats exclusive? I found a beat on Beatopia thats also being leased on another website.

Thats possible. 90% of the beats you hear on Beatopia are exclusive and cannot be found anywhere else. There is only a small amount of non-exclusive beats on our platform.

31. Can other artists/songwriters buy and use the same beat I’ve downloaded?

Yes, all beats on our site are available for all users to be able to download on a non-exclusive basis. Many artists are likely to use each beat.

32. Can I get access to the stems of a track for mixing, editing, etc?

Yes, when downloading the beat, all of the stems will be made available. You will see this option when hitting the download button.

33. Is it possible to purchase an exclusive license of a track on Beatopia?

Our model is not optimized or set up yet for buying exclusive licenses. However, in rare cases (such as if a track becomes popular), Beatopia will negotiate an exclusive sale. Tracks typically cost over $3,000 USD. Message us at hello@beatopia.com with the details of which track you wish to purchase.

34.  Am I able to contact the producer for custom changes to a track?

We encourage collaboration so feel free to reach out to producers. You can visit the producer’s page on Beatopia to see their info. In most cases, having the producer involved is not needed, because we provide the stems.

35. Do I need to credit the producer, and if so how?

Yes! All users agree to credit the producer on the Master Recording in a form similar to what’s listed in Table A included in the license. This includes for the packaging (if any), any “single” embodying the Master Recording, metadata in connection with electronic transmissions, and in all print ads placed or controlled by you of one-half (1/2) page or larger that feature the Master Recording.

You need to credit the producer on Youtube, Soundcloud or IG. You can use ‘Prod. by Producer Name’ on the title or the top of the description of your track.

You also need to link back to Beatopia.

36. Where can I find the full license terms? Are there different licenses for certain tracks?

Beatopia has one main license for every track. Our simple licensing policy is what makes us so innovative and easy to use. You can find the license here

There is a very small number of tracks that requires artists to share revenue after 1 million streams. These tracks are only around 1% of the library and you can see if this applies to a certain track on their unique downloadable license.

37. What happens if I get signed to a major label and they want to acquire the song I made with a Beatopia beat?

In this case, Beatopia will need to negotiate an exclusive sale or license with the label wherein Beatopia will own 50% of the master points of the beat. For example, if we negotiate 3%, the producer would retain 1.5%.

38. Does the license have any limitations to the amount of streams and/or sales I receive?

We have a worry-free unlimited license. This means that there are no limitations on the amount of streams and you only need to pay royalties after 50,000 sales (downloads, not streams. The producer may receive performance rights, but these are not paid by you (the artist) but by streaming services, radio stations etc. A small number of our tracks may have a one million stream license (around 1% of tracks only). You can check the unique downloadable license for each track to see if this applies and/ or you can contact us if you reach 1 million streams.

39. How do I download beats?

You can purchase a subscription here, then search for beats via the search bar at the top, browse by category, or browse by tag. Once you find a sound you like, click the buttons to the right of the waveform preview to download.

40. How do I preview beats?

To listen to a sound before downloading, click the play button to the left of the waveform.

41. I can't find the beats I just downloaded. Where are they being saved?

This depends on your browser's preferences. To select where each sound is saved, make a right click (or ctrl+click on a Mac). Choose "save target as" or "save link as" to select a location on your hard drive. You can also go to the 'Download History' section of 'My Account' and re-download your beats from there.

42. I’ve used my monthly allocation of beats. Now what?

At the moment, Monthly members cannot purchase their subscription again. Very soon, we intend to implement the ability to the pay to start a new month’s access, which will restart your monthly subscription from that date moving forward. In the meantime, users can can another 5 beats by setting up another account and purchasing a subscription there. If you are a member on an annual subscription drop us a quick email at hello@beatopia.com and we’ll see what we can do for you.

43. I forgot my username or password. How can I log in?

First click on the login link at the top right of the page. Then click on 'request a password' to send yourself a new password. The email you receive will contain a new password and your username.

44. How do I change my password within my profile?

a. First, login from the top of the home page.

b. Click on 'Profile' on the top navigation menu.

c. Click on edit.

d. At the middle of the page you have to enter your new password twice.

e. Hit submit at the bottom of the page and you're done.

45. Can I change my Beatopia registered email?

You can't do it manually, but we can change your email on the back end, so just email us and we will switch it out for you.

46. I didn't get an email after registering.

Click on the "log-in" link at the top right of the page. Then click on "request a new password" and you will be able to send yourself a new email with your password. If that still doesn't work, it probably means that you entered your email incorrectly. Try signing up again. It’s also possible that our email went into your spam or junk folder. If you're still having trouble, please contact Support (click on the link at the bottom of the page).

47. Why do I have to confirm that "I'm not a robot" every once in a while?

There are some greedy people trying to scrape our database by using auto-download scripts. These "bots" chew up bandwidth and slow down legitimate users. We know it's annoying, but it's the only way to slow them down.

48. Are the beats on Beatopia all legal?

Every beat in our library is legally purchased or licensed with contractual agreements with our producers and beatmakers. 

49. Can I use these beats as background to my video?

You can only use them as part of a music video when they include your voice. You cannot use them as they are ‘on their own’ on a YouTube video. The vast majority of our beats are available for Sync and video licensing via our sister website Soundsnap.com.

50. Can I copy beats from Beatopia onto a CD or my website and re-sell them as they are, without adding vocals?

Absolutely not. That's against our Terms of Use and a violation of international copyright law.

51. Is it OK if I use a script or bot to help me download beats?

No. It is strictly prohibited to use any kind of robot, spider, script, downloader, reader, or any kind of software meant to stream or download tracks. There are no exceptions to this rule as it will slow down legitimate users and could create risks for our partners. Any violation of this rule will be dealt with a ban from the site without refund and is often followed by serious legal action.

52. There's no sound when I hit play on the beats.

Please try clearing your cache, reload your browser, and then try again. If the issue is persisting, please contact support with your OS and browser and its version, and we will fix the situation as quickly as we can.

53. How do I delete my account?

When signing in, scroll to the bottom of your Profile tab and press the "Delete your account" button. A prompt will come up asking for your password to confirm. This will effectively delete your account and all info associated with it.
